Hello all,
It seems lately I’ve had difficulty with the tenon dept. I’ve been furnituremaking for years and understand enough regarding the movement of wood to build a case piece to last generations. My question is, yesterday for example I’m building a pair of side tables I’ve set up and cut the tenons to a perfect text book fit. One hour later I couldn’t fit them dry with a 20lb. mallet. The shop is 30% humidity, the wood is cherry at about 8-10% Any takers?? And thank you Lie Nielsen for a great shoulder plane.
Thanks everyone,
Cortland

Sound like your shop is infested with woodgnomes. Try sprinkling the parameters with powdered wolf bane. Gets them everytime.

Does Raid make a spray for woodgnomes??
Ahhh, what about the mortise? Were you having problems w/ all of the joints? Was there a highly localized (in the joint area) rain shower?
