Thought it might be a good topic. The most valuable thing I have learned in the last year is the difference between a reasonable hand plane and a really well set up and sharp one. The books by David Charlesworth are very influential to me. His attention to detail has improved my work considerably.

I couldn't agree with your more about David Charlesworth . Perhaps not the most valuable but very close, especially the proper technique for setting the blade in the plane.
If you liked the books I think you will find the videos just as useful. I did, anyway.
