Has anyone had luck buying tickets on-line to The Woodworking Shows?
In years past I’ve avoided long lines by pre-registering on-line but all I’ve been able to get this year is “tickets available SOON”.

Maybe they're afraid the show will end up being cancelled? Sorry, that was cynical of me, but the WWing shows seem to be having a really hard time these days! Which show are you planning to go to? What's the date?
You'd think that if they were afraid of cancellation, they'd want more people to buy tickets ahead of time.

I just went to the one in Phoenix, and long lines are the last thing you'll have to worry about. The problem your more likely to run into is trying to figure out how to walk slow enough so you don't get through the entire show in 15 minutes and feel like you wasted your money.
Sorry, if I'm a little negative, but this was my first ever and none of the major tool makers were there. It was like a small flea market.
Hopefully Columbus won't suck this year. It did last year and I don't feel like burning $3.00 gas for 200 miles to find out.
I would guess the Columbus show will be a big disappointment. Make some time to attend the Wood Werks Supply show on the same weekend especially if you want to checkout some big machines, table saws, jointers etc.

I've always heard about WoodWerks but have never been there. this year might be the year

It's definitely worth a visit.

How does the Edward B Mueller store in Cincy compare to Wood Werks? It has been years since I have visited the Muller store. BTW I am in NE Ohio.
The link has been fixed, I misspelled Mueller.

I've never been there. I've never really been to Cincinnati at all per se--I've only ever been to the airport (which isn't even in Ohio...).

Jerry,
Your link takes one to a Kansas City advertising firm.

The correct link is http://www.muellerco.com/.

Wow, great site. I have been to Wood Werks. They have a great store. Mueller looks like they could be as good or better.

Thanks for all the responses. I checked with Marc Adams, originally scheduled to be a Seminar presenter. He says "I am no linger affiliated with The Woodworking Shows". I then went back to the show website and there are NO seminars as had been listed 2-3 weeks ago. I tried the Consumer Woodworking show site but they are not scheduled to appear in the Detroit area and 2 shows, previously scheduled, have been "cancelled"Things must be in a real turmoil. The Detroit show (at the Novi Expo Center; the town was so-named because it was "Stop No. VI" on the stagecoach run across the State. I'll see you next on Jeopardy!) has always been great - so crowded you could hardly fall down. Now I don't know if I'll go.Frosty"I sometimes think we consider the good fortune of the early bird and overlook the bad fortune of the early worm." FDR - 1922
Thanks for the information. I was also planning to go, but won't now. I assume if Marc has withdrawn that there is less to it than there was before.
KG, which show group was that one??? There are the traditional Woodworking Shows and then there's a newcomer, the Consumer Woodworking Expo. The expo came to Seattle a few weeks ago, and was a complete waste of money. The regular WWing Shows has had some downturn, for sure, but still are pretty OK unless you're on your 5th one and have or have seen all the tools you need.

The Denver show was pretty good but definitely smaller than prior years. The big drag this year was the cancellation of all the paid classes.
One nice addition this year was a couple out of Boulder, Chris and Alison Webster with Peck Tools. http://www.pecktool.com They carry loads of German made tools and now handle the Ulmia benches that GarretWade dropped a few years back.
I'm always looking for the next tool for the shop.
Those are the same websites....
Ooops, sorry, here:
The Woodworking Shows (traditional group):http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com
Consumer Woodworking Expo (new guys):http://www.consumerwoodworkingexpo.com
I noticed that there's also an INdustrial Woodworking Expo. Is this an established show? or are they new also?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
It was the "classic" one. Looks like it has some of the same sponsorship, Peachtree, WOOD Magazine, etc., but at least it has one tool manufacturer.
The company that puts on The Woodworking Shows changed hands just before the new "show season" started. The reports I've read about the shows here in california and elsewhere have been very negative. Evidently the new owners didn't get very many companies to attend this year. Hopefully ther will start improving as the year goes on. I really enjoyed the one I attended in Pomona, California in the spring, but I didn't attend the last one here because of the negative reviews I read on wwing forums.
I went to the one here in Portland back in October, it was the first one I went too. It wasn't what I would call very big, my brother even commented that in the past they have been bigger. I joked that pretty soon there will be just one guy in the middle of a big room with a shave horse and draw knives and everyone will just gather around him and watch. I sure hope this isn't setting a precedence of things to come though. B.Kidd
