Hello,
I’m thinking of buying a new sharpening system, but i would like to know more about the tormek 1206 grinder. I think most of the people that’re talking about tormek mean the 2006 (the green one). But the price is a big issue. Does the 1206 do a good job or is it seriously inferiour to the 2006. I also was looking at Creusen’s 7500TS, slow speed grinder.
Any comments ?

George: I have a Tormek and I really like it. It does have a learning curve. I've found the following site to be very helpful: http://www.sharptoolsusa.com/demo.php. I don't know about the 1206, but I'm sure you can find out about it on the Sharp Tools site. Good luck!

Thx guys, but i couldn't wait and bought it (the blue one). Tried it this morning and i absolutely luv it. Now i have to get myself a couple of good blades for my planes (probably buy some Hock ones). Any idea if i can use it on my japanese chisels (as no heat i produced) ?

I have one and also 'LOVED' it till.. I had off 90 degree face..
May be in the book someplace but I never saw it..Well I Emailed Tormek and got this.. You may want to keep for future reference,,PDF is OK to open.. As in no virus.. Well, no problems when I opened it here.. Got it from Tormek USA
I always grind my plane blades the tinniest bit convex (a really really small amount) , so the sides of the blade don't grab into the wood.

so the sides of the blade don't grab into the wood.Geeeee I just keep the bed FLAT to the wood and adjust the blade angle!Sorry I had to!The little line left marks a spot I missed!EDIT 2.. Now that I'm down from 1 inch to 3/4 inch where do I give up and use sandpaper?Edited 11/18/2005 5:45 am by WillGeorgeEdited 11/18/2005 6:03 am by WillGeorge
