First I froze my a** off, then I was buried in snow, latter my shop was flooded and now its become an ice rink LoL. With all the rain this past weekend and a 28 inch snowfall the previous week my shop had about an inch of water on Monday and this morning I found my heat was out and whatever moisture was left on the slab froze. Any ideas on how I can take advantage of this situation? Maybe I can charge the local kids for skating or ice bowling ha..ha.
Any suggestions??
RickL
P.S. I give-up! and have to laugh otherwise I might have to shoot myself. This has been my worst winter ever.
SPRING WHERE ARE YOU??

Rick, I share your pain. With the exception of the 28" snowfall, I've been experiencing everything you have -- including the flooded shop and the indoor ice rink! Here in SW Michigan, we haven't seen the ground since November, with all the snow. Why is February such a long month, despite its 28 days?

Hang in there Rick, Were all pulling for ya.
We had 20" of snow here in MD, thats a major snow for us. Last Thursday night I figured I better go out to the garage and see if I had any seepage or floods. A little seepage on the expansion joint, and a few of the cracks in the floor and some by the garage door. No major problem, But, with 2 to 4 feet of snow piled up around the shop and major rain expected Friday night and Saturday I was in trouble. I took off Friday afternoon from work and busted my @ss shoveling around the shop and making sure the water was going to flow away from the building. 2 to 3 inches of rain later the problem was no worse. My lot is flat as a board, I've learned to keep the gutters clean, downspouts flowing and leaves away from the building. Catch the water on the roof and get it away from the building.
Before I learned this, a few years ago I went out to the shop on a Saturday morning to find 3/4 or more of the room covered with water. I picked up and dried off a bunch of stuff from the floor and dumped the dust collector bag in the middle of the room and used the garden rake to spread it around. Turned on the attic exhaust fan and walked away P-O-ed. No fun for you today!
I'm with you, come on spring.
Enjoy, Roy

I did some painting and sanding in the shop today. Took the sanding outside. It was chilly enough to put on a long sleeve shirt over the long sleeve T-shirt. Not chilly enough to button it though. ha..ha.. ( Ducking and heading for cover as I think I see a chunk of ice someone hurled coming my way)
We do have a little colder front moving in by tomorrow. I have sister-in-laws in Pa. and you've had a bad winter with the snow up your way. Spring can't be far away.
Good luck...

I wish you all (except the gloatting Sarge) would quit hogging all the snow! You know, the rest of us probably wouldn't mind if you shared a little?
Steve
SARGE: if you want a little Snow in your driveway I can help you out.. how about if I send a couple of tri-axle dump truck loads down for you say 9 or 12 ,hmmmm???? we sure have plenty to spare and theres more on the way thursday- yippie..<G>.. I finnaly hooked up my spare coal stove that I had stored, now theres plenty of heat in the shop soo no more ice hanging from my chin, its nice & toasty in the shop now...IM adding 220 amp service as I picked up a deal on a welder, guess now when I up grade the table saw Ill go with a 3 hp motor /220 volts... makes it easier to pick a saw,now I can get either Grizzly or a Delta uni-saw.. not sure which.. guess Ill flip a coin..LOL...

No need tor the dump-trucks. I think the in-laws might track some down when they get here as they're all tired of it also. My BIL who works at Delta Airlines gets them free tickets (unfortunately, ha). E-mail says they're on the way.
Read in other post about your new welder, heat and 220 hook-up. I think you made some excellent moves there as all sound like things will be simpler and are looking up at your shop.
I better go do some maintenence on those parking meters I have installed in the drive-way before her relatives show up. Want to be sure I don't lose any revenue while they're here. <grin>
Have a good nite Doc, and hope that weather breaks...

Hey Sarge!
Well I guess we all have our own problems to deal with. Just remember with a little time all our problems eventually go away LoL
Good Luck,
RickL

I really shouldn't make fun of the relatives. I don't really have a problem with them. Being a sort of "shoot from the hip" kinda guy, I placed those lit EXIT signs over the inner doors and a tray with free road maps next to each.
They now understand that I don't tell them how to run their house-hold and they certainly don't tell me how to run mine. Works like a charm. ha..ha..
