First Post. Like Knots, I’ve learned a bunch reading.
Building a cedar lined chest for future DIL. QS white oak, M & T frame, raised panels, plywood bottom set in dado. May go tung oil finish or may BLO/shellac finish. Butt joint side panels to front that will include biscuts. Question 1, will the butt joint stand up over time?, Question 2, I am confortable with good ole yellow glue, problem with QS white oak and yellow glue?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Q1 Butt joint with biscuits is fine in this situation.
Q2 QS white oak is highly compatable with yellow glue,as are almost every domestic hardwood specie.
Good luck
Your plan sounds good.I agree that the butt joint with biscuits will hold up,and that the yellow glue will work well. However, I think that a splined miter would be a better jount for the corners.
Good luck with it!

Have you thought about a sliding dovetail for that joint? Strong and nice touch.
You've already heard yellow glue works just fine with Q/S oak.
Gorrilla glue works well too. I have used both and kind of like the fact that the Gorilla glue takes stain should there be any squeeze out.
If you get squeeze out with yelloe glue and dont gat it all cleaned up, it will show up during staining.
Chuck , There are many ways of doing any particular task , keep an open mind in woodworking . I simply rabbit the front and back panels slip the sides in and glue and clamp. You get almost twice the glue surface joint length ,as compared to a butt joint . You can reinforce with corner glue angled strips in the inside corners .As far as glue, I would use an Aliphatic resin type such as Titebond or equiv. With the Rabbit joint any movement of the wood may be less visible compared to the Butt joint .Good Luck
