Hi everyone,
I am usually hanging out in Cook’s Talk but have an unusual question that I am hoping to find an answer too.
My grandfather used to be in the furniture business. In the late 40’s early 50’s he purhcased a Thomasville dining room set for my grandmother. There were only 6 cuttings made of this set. It consists of table, 4 straight chairs, 2 captains chairs, 1 buffet and a china cabinet. It is made of northern hardrock maple. The set has been in dry storage since 1982 when my grandmother passed away. My father has now instructed me to find a buyer for it as he does not want to pay storage for it any longer (my mom just passed away). Do you have any suggestions on where I can go to sell this set? I have to take pictures of it which means getting it out of storage. I live in the Chicagoland area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Try ebay, craigslist, or a local auction house. The latter will probably be the least amount of hassle, although they will want a larger cut.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I really appreciate it.
You're welcome. An auction house might even by it outright.
Good luck,
Paul
I think I will check that route first and see what they say. I wish I had room for it as it is gorgeous furniture! Thank you! Cindy
