Does anyone have experience with MLCS raised panel sets? They seem like a really good value but I’d like to here some opinions first.
If you don’t have experience with the raised panel sets, any feelings on their bits in general. My experience is with Whiteside, Freud and Carb tech.

I don't have their RP bits, but I do have their cope and stick bits. I am very pleased with them, as I have been with all of the bits I have purchased from them. A few years back FWW did a comparison of router bits(1/2"), theirs finished in the top few. Several brand name bits didn't do as well. They are my first choice for bits unless I needed them yesterday, then I bite the bullet($$$), and go to local woodworking store and pay too much for a brand name bit.
I have had their raised pannel bits for a couple of years, as well as a couple of their large sets. They are not whiteside bits, but I have been very happy with them. I read a review on several of the bits out there and the main draw back for the mlcs bits was simply that they did not last as long as the best bits, but performed as well or better than several that cost a lot more than mlcs prices. That happens to be a very good trade off for me

Is there a real difference between MLCS regular bits and their Katana (higher end) line? The price difference on the raised panel sets are $69.95 versus $109.95, is it worth the extra money or don't bother?
thanks
MLCS bits are okay as a starter set. Freud and Whiteside are a step above. Carb-tech is similar to MLCS.
What makes the difference is the size of the carbide particles, smaller is better, the amount of carbide, which ensures future sharpening availability, and the quality of the binder used to hold the carbide to the bit. This is why some name brands cost more than others.
I've had some good luck with MLCS, but I've also had their bits shipped to me that were chipped upon arrival, even under plastic coating. These days I use a variety of bits, and I like Amana.

I have built a bunch of raised panels with mine. Results have been quite nice. My experience with their bits has been good.
