I was in our local woodworking store last weekend and was looking at a General International radial arm drill press that was marked down from $800 to $499. I thought this was the coolest thing ever….I want one.
But, I can not find any reviews on them nor anyone who has ever owned or used one. The only negative thing I could find was something about the stability of the drill head when extended???? Or something like that. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony

I hate to throw cold water on a good "buy" but . . .
I had one, an old Rockwell if I recall. I had trouble with accuracy: flexibility in the outboard position and accuracy in maintain true 90* with the table. I gave it away.
did you give it to oldusty by chance?
Back in the late '50s-early '60s when I was selling Delta machines at a hardware store, the factory rep told us the radial-arm DPs were OK to sell to home DIYers, as long as we didn't sell them as precision machines. Too much flex in the assembly at extension, but certainly handy for some applications.
Thanks for the insight, Dusty.
Ralph, who needs o wait until dusk to let the bats out.
Ralph , hows about a bat box ?
