Several years ago there was a srory in FWW showing how to construct the sliding dovetails for the three legs (tripod) of a small table. I can’t find. Does anyone know what issue it is in or how I can locate it?

Frosty,
Here's one from a lot of years ago (issue #9):

Here's a more recent one (issue #110):

(A wonderful thing, a search engine - keywords: "candle stand").
I've made a number of three-legs-DT'd-into-a-column tables. The choice is: make the areas of the central pillar flat, where the DT's slide into their DT grooves; or leave that area rounded and shape the DT ends of the legs to fit.
I always found the former approach easier to achieve. But some folk like the look of the other method best, even though it is harder to get the join neat (ie sans gaps).
Lataxe
Thanks Lataxe. that's perfect. I knew I had read the story some time ago but I hoped I would not have to search all the Index issues to find it. (My first issue is #33.)I have a veneered, 8 segment, round top I did in a veneering class several years ago. I've always wanted to make it into a table. I guess the time is now. My next concern is to decide what type of hardwood perimeter will suit me - and then how to make and install it.Thanks again,Frosty
Issue #173 had a tilt top tea table as the cover story that has the legs you want.

The Professional Termite
I found it. Thanks. Now to enhance my turning skills. I have never enjoyed lathe work so I guess that this will be a combo "punishment for my sins - and a learning experience".Frosty
