I ordered, installed and used Suffolk Machines new resaw blade design, the 3/4 x 2/3 VPC (Variable Positive Claw). What a dream blade. It sail’s through 8 1/2″ maple feeding at approx 1″ per second with no power issues whatsoever. 8-1/2″ is the full resaw height capacity of my saw. Leaves a pretty smooth finish that cleans up in one face pass on my jointer. I highly endorse this blade for resawing on smaller saws like mine (14″ Grizzly 1- 1/2 hp).

1" per second? That's awesome! Could you send me a link to the blade?

Here is a link to the info page for all their vertical bandsaw blades. They call it the VPC and it's shown as NEW.
BTW, I forgot to mention in my original post, the feedrate of 1" per second was in air dried maple that was four years old. Moisture content measured at 10% on my moisture gage. The mfg. advertises this blade is designed to be used in green or dry wood....The 1" per second FR is a real stat too, I had a buddy time it on two separate cuts, after I had bragged to him...not that he didn't believe ME....;-)
Enjoy.

Yours is the first report I've seen on that new blade. Thanks!!!
I've been running their 3/4 - 3 PC blade for resawing and have been very happy with that blade. I bought two of them a year ago, and still have a new one, I've gotten so much mileage from the original I started with and until I got this new blade was still using it.
But I'm head over heels in love with this new blade, looks like I'll never get to use the 2nd 'reserve' blade I bought originally. I guess if I actually break a blade and can't wait for an order to arrive, it could see some use. Othewise it's retired new. BTW, I ordered that blade on Tuesday, had it in hand on Saturday. Pretty quick turnaround considering the distance involved. Suffolk Machine is pretty good outfit IMO...
Now here's a question for you if ya don't mind. I know you and I are in same general area. Do you have your blades sharpened locally or send them out via mail? I've got some thickness planer blades I need sharpened that are just too long for me to mess with/up.
Jeff
OT (Off Topic) response to sharpening source in Seattle area:
You might try Eastside Saw in Bellevue. I've sent them saw blades and planer blades with good results.
That's close to where I work. Thanks much...

I bought a new Jet JWBS-18X (got a REALLY good deal on it) and even with the 3/4" blade that came with it the performance was great compared to my 14" old Rockwell 1/2hp! The tooless carter style guides are easy to adjust and it is so quiet when running!
I was still not happy with the feed rate on resaw or the feed pressure it took to resaw. I ordered the new Timberwolf 3/4x2/3VPC and WOW -- seems like I can push 8" zebra or wenge as fast as I want and the cut is fantastic! Highly recomend!!

scott,
did you buy the blade from the manufacturer or a retailer?
thanks mike
I called in and bought 4 or 5 blades (some for my 14" and some for the new 18") and got the 3/4 free. That was the special they had going at the time. The suffolk people are VERY helpful and will get info on your saw and suggest what to use. They are a pleasure to deal with.
Scott
thanks, I'll give them a call
