I have recently started spraying waterborne finishes and I have some questions. What is the optimum tip I should use for a pressure feed hvlp? What do you use to tint the finish for shading. Can i just use water base stain or should I use some tinting colors? Are there any effects I have to worry about when adding a tint or stain to waterborne finishes? Any help to my questions would be great.

"Any help to my questions would be great." I'll take you at your word, there. TransTint dyes from Homestead Finishing (Jeff Jewitt) can be added to water-base finishes. I've just started working with dyes, no expert, but was very pleased with my first experience. Jeff has a forum also, in case the weekend is slow around here.

forestgirl,
Hey, I thought you were coming to Portland this weekend!
I thought I should let you know that today is one of the nicest Fall days ever. 70 degrees, beautiful leaves...
Great, now I just talked myself into leaving the shop and going outside!

Wanted to go to Portland, but didn't think it was fair to the two dogs (total weight, 180 lbs) to make them ride all the way down and back, plus sit in the car on such an unusually warm day! I'm planning on going to the "other show" that's in Tacoma in November. Spent today racing a zucchini at the Island co-op housing, courtesy of one of my WWing friends. Pics tomorrow in the Cafe!! Sounds like a better way to spend the day, for sure.
But what does racing a zucchini mean? I've done some racing, but never in or against a zucchini.

Only racing I'd ever done was as a kid -- barrel racing on a pony, LOL. These kinds of fun things don't get received well here at KNots. Mosey on over to WWA and take a look at the pics there in the Scrap Pile (non-WWing section):

forestgirl,
I checked it out. Very funny! You would never have seen that at the Woodworking Show. I noticed that your husband has the fuel tank in his other hand.

"I noticed that your husband has the fuel tank in his other hand." Oh yeah.... Next year, maybe we'll build one of these:http://www.spudtech.com/forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Wow, I wonder what the recoil on that would be?
Why don't you step up to the plate and do a pumpkin cannon? A couple of years ago I was golfing in October and a crew was launching them at us!
Check out the video on this site.

Tip size would be dependent on the viscosity of the material you are shooting. If you know the viscosity (should be on the spec sheet) you can probably call the tech line of the manufacturer of your gun and they will tell you which tip set to use. DeVilbiss certainly will.
any WB tint should be OK, you can use WB stain, I've used the paint tints from the borg, but I do recommend your top coat be un-modified from the manufacturer. My 2 bits.
