I have recently started using titebond 111 and have come up with a problem I did not have with the previous version. It appears to skin very easily in the plastic container. When first purchased it had a small amount of hard brown skin on the top. Being a new product I removed, noted and carried on.
Have just moved my workshop and have not used the glue for 3 weeks or more, but when I did there was a hard brown skin down about 25mm the container [16 oz pottle] sides right up to the delivery slot. Tough and rubbery and non breakable, had to get a knive blade into the pottle and ease it away from the sides and use a pair of pliers to rip the skin out.
The delivery slot had been left in the open position with just a small hole to let air in. I also leave it on the window sill to catch the winter sun.
Anyone else have this problem. Is it normal or am I causing it ?.

I've been using Titebond III for several months and have not had it skin over in the bottle. However, I use it every day. I also buy Titebond III in small bottles.
I have noticed that any waste adhesive skins over and becomes cured much quicker than the regular Titebond. Leaving the delivery slot open must be avoided.
One way to ease the skinning problem is to store the bottle upside down; then the skin is on the surface opposite to the delivery slot.
I have not noticed this, but I do not leave the bottle open. I imagine that is what's causing your problem. I do not store it in the sun, either.
