I don’t work with white oak a great deal.
Does anyone know what the silver streaks / patches are in the attached image of a live edge?
Too numerous to be old strap marks.
I tool the bark off and was spoke shaving the cambium off also when I noticed that I had been working for AGGESSSS and still not removed these sections (nor had they really changed in size and shape as I went deeper through the board) – They seem to run really deep.
Also in the picture of the top of the board I can see the tone of the entire board shifts so I’m thinking it may be that and I’m stuck with it?
Any advice about this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Martyn

They look like water stains to me. Where did you get the board... was it air dried outdoors?
If the board was air-dried outside, that could explain it. Where did you pick it up from?
