Anyone know why the “Tool Review” thread was deleted from stem to stern?

It was moved to the cafe, ask the sysop for access if you don't already have it.
What is the cafe?If my hands were only as smart as my head.
Once the sysop gives you access it shows up in the topics areas on the left pane. It has some of the more controversial threads and some non woodworking threads as well.

Not to be toooo dense, but how does one arrange for the sysop to grant access?

Just post a message like you are doing here and say Sysop I would like access to the cafe. Might be quicker to adress the message to mberger.

Hit the "post new" at the top of the left column. That will start a new thread, which you should probably label "cafe access."A new thread will for sure catch the attention of the sysop, who will then "grant" you access.Dumb, huh?********************************************************

Officially, the cafe is where non-woodworking threads are supposed to be posted. By default, these often tend to be controversial and sometimes heated discussions. The history of the "hidden" nature of the cafe is that a few very persistent and vocal members couldn't find the fortitude to ignore what they didn't like, and apparently pestered Sysop into making the Cafe an "opt-in" folder, so that they didn't have to see in their folders list.
Clicking on Matt's name and emailing him will get you access.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yeah, but I kind of thought tool reviews were wwing related....? Did it possibly get too controversial?
Thanks for the insights.
Bingo. I guess it did. I had stopped reading it (am really good at ignoring stuff), but that would be the assumption.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
