I realize this may be a little “off topic” but hopefully not too far off. My mother-in-law gave this “tool kit” to my oldest son maybe 40 years ago. My wife recently uncovered it during a basement clean up. They are wonderfully done and I’m trying to come up with a creative way to display them.
My question is does anyone have any idea where they might have come from? Have you ever seen a set like these before? There are no labels or any indication of the maker so it’s possible they were crafted by an individual.
Thanks for looking!

Those are great. They must have been made, not bought.
Sewing nerds might be able to identify a long ago pattern or article.
At the base of this page, right side is a link to Taunton's Threads magazine. I suggest trying the forums there.
I checked with some friends who sew and they all felt that this set was handmade.
I decided to build a display case for them. Because they are "toys" I felt the display should be playful and fun. I displayed the tools as if they were working, the hammer is hitting a nail, the wrench turning a bolt, the pliers turning a knurled knob, and the saw cutting a kerf in wood. I also thought it would be fun to make a pile of sawdust to sit under the saw. Then I decided to join the case sides with proud dovetails. I think they look sort of "pillowed" or "embroidered" in keeping with the sewing theme. But I still wasn't satisfied with the design, and then it hit me, I would join the case with dovetails at three corners and the fourth corner would be a broken, badly joined corner, with messy dowels sticking out and maybe a couple of bent nails. Why? Because you can't really do good work with cloth tools!!!
What a great job! Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks John, it was fun to do something just for fun!
Wow. Well done!
Great idea and a very interesting display case.
