I have to stain and topcoat 6 birch veneer flush doors and about 125 sq ft of wainscotting.I was considering spraying the topcoat with a HVLP unit.Any ideas on what type of topcoat to use? I would like to use a water based coat for ease of cleanup.

Choosing a finish sometimes depends on personal taste. For my money, the best topcoat to use on blotch-prone woods like birch is paint.
