I’m not sure how many people on this forum are from Toronto, but in the hopes that there are a few, I had the following questions:
In your experience, where are the best places to buy tools and wood around the GTA?
The only places I know about for tools are Lee Valley (hand tools, accessories, etc.) and either Home Depot or MITS for the power tools. I would think there would have to be other places to buy, but I don’t know where.
Also, what about wood? In your experience, where are the best places to buy either domestic or import wood?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

For wood, Glen Supply Co. in Kingston. 149 Counter St., 542-4957, -4958, 544-3757. Very large inventory and they can mill on site. The storage building is unheated, so bring warm clothes.
I have found to tools supply list rather short in the GTA. A bit surprising given how many people there are here.
On the wood side, try exotic woods in burlington (domestic and exotics)
http://www.exotic-woods.com Great survice, great selection.
Unicorn - 416.635.6914 (domestic and exotics). I have not been impressed with their customer service thought. They have great selection.
Knight Lumber in Guelph - 519.822.6160 Great selection of domestic woods. The best selection of PA cherry I have seen.
Cheers, Konrad Sauer - in Mississauga
