Just picked up an old Stanley No. 5 – Bailey. It has been cleaned up and I do have a nice replacement blade from IBC but I am in need of a new tote. The small screw was set in the base but the handle and large screw were missing. At this point I would settle for most anything that fits. Any suggestions? (The new handle in the pic belongs to another plane and needs to go back.)
Thanks,
James

Replacement tote
Personally, I would bide my time and keep an eye open at flea markets. Just pick up a "parts only" beater that has a good tote. Thus keeping it original as possible, and slightly worn and good petina is a good thing. $5.00 is frugal. ;-) #5's are a dime a dozen and easy to find.
Then take the old blade and grind it to be a "scrubber"

Have started the flea market route already. That and antique malls, which supplied me with both of my Stanleys. Estate sales have worked well too. have several #4's but the jack and jointer planes haven't come up beyond the first #5(I don't count the Ohio wooden jack). I have a table top that needs to be worked so a plastic replacement is on its way. But having the tool as original as possible is the goal. Will take your advise to heart and keep an eye out. Thanks

James
