Looking for suggestions on species of wood, size and tabletop thickness.
The plan is to build a trestle table that seats 12.
Thanks,
Mike

walnut - my favorite wood
6' x 12' - allows 3' per person. Plenty o' room
3" - good and thick. Stout, able to withstand after dinner dancing
I"ll not send any more flip answers if you ask more specific questions. There are loads of design books available. Inspired Homes recently had an article on dining table design. There is a Taunton book called Dining Tables by Kim Graves.
Thanks for the info. This table is going in as part of a "Breakfast Nookesque" bench set-up otherwise like a corner L-Bench and then it wll have benches rather than chairs on the other two sides. It is part of a kitchen-dining area in a rather lodge lake cabin at a small resort in Northern Minnesota. The cabin sleeps up to 12 so the table needs to feed up to 12.
Any more info given would be great.
Thanks,
Mike
