Perhaps this is a dumb question, but what is the “trick” to attaching a file using this new format? I know everyone’s tired of the comments on the site, but good grief! things that used to intuitive are now just plain difficult to do at all!

Change your "view" from basic to advanced. Then the attachments menu comes up.
I am with you, that is about as intuitive as looking in the bedroom closet for the breakfast cereal.
