I’m about to buy a Triton 3 1/4 Hp router. It looks perfect for my needs, but the reviews seem to from “love it” to “hate it”. I’ll mainly use it with a flush trim bit, for electric guitar making, so it won’t be too much really heavy work.
Still, I don’t want to buy a router that stops working after a year.
Any recommendations?
I live in Norway, by the way, so some of the brands in the US are not available here.

Router shopping
Shop a little way to your south. Festool from Germany. The very best router and dust collection is great.
Triton routers
Triton was originally an Australian company, and had a good reputation. A couple of years ago, however, they encountered financial problems, and have since been purchased by a European investment firm. Manufacturing has been moved to Europe, I believe, but I'm not sure about that. During the interim, it appears that numerous people had various problems regarding service and availability. It's unclear to me whether the dust has settled yet.
I, too, have several Festool products, all of which I've been excellent. I don't have a Festool router, though, and I'm not sure how they compare to the "big dog" PC 7518.
I would consider a trim router since you are not doing much heavy work. The Festool MFK 700 EQ is a nice trim router. I have a DeWalt 611 router. It is a trim router and is nice for small operations. It is probably not available in Norway.
