I have a new (6 months old) Baldor 2HP on my contractors saw. Recently the saw bogs down as if losing power. Using a WWII blade that has been cleaned and is still sharp. Saw bearings spin freely. Running at 220 on 30A circuit. No wiring changes since it was working fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Possibly the capacitor? Appreciate any help.

Don't know if that motor uses both start and run capacitors, but if it uses a run capacitor, it could be the culprit.

Basics, but I would at least check to make sure the arbor nut is snug against the blade and the blade is turning the same rpm as the shaft. Also check to make sure you have proper tension and the belt is not slipping on the pulley's and slowing rpm down. If these are not the culprits, then I would pursue the electrical route.
BTW, you're not ripping thick ligum-vitae or locust are you? That will slow a 2 HP, single belt contractor saw down to a crawl. Nah, probably not.
Good luck...

Ken... Check your extension cord. If it is not heavy enough or it is too long you are basically (electrically) starving your motor. Try the saw plugged DIRECTLY into a 20 Amp wall outlet and see what happens. SawdustSteve
Could it be that there is something else on the same circuit? Turning on another power drain would bog down the saw. You can check that by turning off the circuit breaker to that outlet, and seeing if anything else won't go on.
