All,
Something just happened to me which I thought I should share….because it was kinda unusual. I was squaring and cutting to length up a couple of sticks with the Incra on the TS. When I fliped over the stick to cut to length it caught the 2′ metal level that hangs from the wood rafters over the TS. The level just missed the spining blade by about 1/2″…which was in a direct line with me. Lesson: don’t hang anything from the rafters anywhere near the TS.

Oh, BG, glad you escaped harm. Thanks for posting the heads-up!

BG,
Geez, I think I'll move squares today. Thanks for the eye opener.

Good point ! let's see if the CFO agrees..:-)
I recall a similar story from a friend and I've been a bit more careful ever since.
In his case he was cutting a run of several dozen small blocks on the table saw. As he cut them off, he was stacking the blocks in piles on the right side of the saw table, to the right of the rip fence which was being used to guide the cutting. After a while, one of the stacks of blocks got a bit high and tumbled over towards the fence. The top block managed to go over the fence and was caught by the blade, which rocketed it into his forearm. The bruise was impressive, he was fairly shaken by the experience.
Things you never think about until you hear a story like this.

John,
Excellent story...that is the kinda thing we all do figuring to the right of the fense is a safe place to play. Now, on the other hand, if either your friend or me had had the plastic guard in place over the blade...maybe no biggie...probably should do both, keep things clear, put on plastic guard.
