I am having a problem with 100% tung oil finish I applied to cherry cabinets. It looks splotchy and uneven. Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem?

I always cut it 50/50 with paint thinner.

I had a recipe for a mixture of 100% tung oil and parafin wax melted together that made an excellent finish. Used it on a set of bedside tables about 15 years ago that still look great.
Unfortunately I can't find the recipe. If anyone has experience with this type of mixture please post.
