I’m about to refinish a white oak bed, I planned to use a tung oil on it and lacquer it!? I ‘ve heard that this combination could be a problem with drying is this so? what other products would give me a 10% sheen and protect the wood

I've used nitro lacquer over fully cured linseed oil without problems. I start with 50/50 mix of oil (boiled) and thinner and a shot of Japan drier. Let it sit a week or two. The final sheen will be a function of the top coat. I prefer to use gloss for clarity and then rub it out with 4/0 steel wool followed by a coat of paste wax. I get just the gloss I need without the haze from the flattening agent which I think is silica.
