Hello everyone
I realy like wood turning, Ive been doing it for a few years.
lately Ive run into a product called HUT turners wax. (GREAT STUFF!)
Only, It works great on natural woods, but I find it cant be used on stained woods, the wax melts off the stain.
Has anyone had any luck useing this product on stained woods?
Ive tried sealing the stain with varnish then waxing, but with no luck. any ideas?
sincerly. C.A.G.

Curtis, are you just wiping the wax on, or burnishing it into the revolving (slow) work?
Use a bunched up rag,( to avoid snagging the rag/fingers/beard/necktie) Stein.
Hello Stein
"Well" yes but HUT is a verry hard wax. it needs a lot of heat to make it work its way into the wood.
Ive used the burnishing ideas on many projects, almost all finishes can be applied in the same way, from varnish to poly.'s (Ive even used Supperglue.) But this Hut I realy like, I just cant figure out how to use it on stained wood???
Thank you.

Oil and Water don't mix.
The varnish has filled the wood the wax can't stick to a smooth surface. Vanish is like gelcoat on a fiberglass mould that wax is a release agent between the plug and the mould. Linseed oil to fill the wood then wax to stop the time line of decay Fine wood working techniques 1978 (I think) was a write up on it.
You might try using dye instead of stain.
Thank you ! I will try dye.
