Have an opportunity to pick up a freshly cut down Russian Olive. Trunk caliper is about 16-18″. Has anybody turned Russian Olive and is it worth getting and is it worth an 80 round trip drive. |

Russian Olives
I thought they were supposed to be used in Vodka martinis. ;-)
Sorry, Bruce, I have no experience with that species.
Russia Olive
I have worked with thid wood only once and it worked quite easily had a fantastic grain but needs to be seasoned very slowly is
liable to shake very quickly if the timber is freshly sawn So make sure you use end seal at least and keep it out of direct sunlight
I turned the piece I had into a bowel my daughter still has it today on her table 10 years old and still looks great but has darkened considerably Hope this helps UK Meager
Bruce, how did you make out with this olive. I also have the opportunity to get some. Did you turn any of yours yet if you got it.
Thanks
Olive
It is still sitting with the ends Anchor sealed. No turning yet.
