I am looking for 4 X 4 X 60in. Turning Squares.
I would like a Hardwood Oak- Hard Maple – Walnut – Cherry . I will be making 4 bed post – I can glue it up but would rather have solid stock. Heck I would even go for Pine or Fir If it is kiln dried .
There should be some where to get 4in. sq. stock.
Any one know of a supplier?
Thanks Ron

Ron,
Don't know where your located, but I was over at Anderson McQuaid yesterday in Cambridge, MA.....take your pick of woods...including imports..either a solid slab that you can cut or individual pieces.
Ron, L.L. Johnson in Charlotte Mich. can supply anything you could possibly need in wood. Tom
You know, my local HD had some pretty nice 4"x4"x8' doug fir that weren't bad. I think they were $9.95 each. I bought two of them and turned legs for a country style breakfast table. There were a few small cracks at knots but I filled them with super glue then spray painted the legs and skirt white. The top was Popular with a cherry stain. My total cost was about $50, which sure beat the $300 for the nearest equivalent I could find. I'm not counting the cost of the paint, stain, or poly for the top. Already had those.
Oh yeah, the legs and skirt got 4 coats of dewaxed shellac prior to spraying with white oil based paint.
For grins, when I did the top glue up, I used clear epoxy. Worked fine. I've had trouble with glue creep using the yellow glues down here in humid Houston. Will be using epoxy for glue-ups in the future.

Ron--You are more likely to get 16/4 stock in mahogany than in some of those other woods you mentioned, and it will be more stable than most of those other woods and considerably easier to turn than any softwood. Any decent hardwood dealer should have the mahogany in stock.
