Can somone advise me on how to turn wooden eggs? I have a Oneway chuck with microjaws so turning one side of the egg should be easy, by making a tenon to put in the chuck. The question is how to secure the rounded end, and by sure it is oriented perfectly parallel to the lathe axis, to turn the second end, and part off the tenon.
I assume you need some sort of non-marring wooden chuck. What is the design? Thanks a lot.

I turn them between centers. I leave a large enough tenon on each end to support it while finishing, 1/8 inch or so, then carefully reduce the tennons a bit at a time, at a slow speed supporting the egg with my left hand. I can get a very clean parting cut that requires just a bit of hand sanding.
