I have a commission for a “twig” table. I have the twigs collected by someone who knew what they were collecting. I know some of them are cherry and some are buckeye.
My question is what finish should I use? I can spray or dip, prefer to spray. Usually use water based, but I am worried this might cause the bark to come off. What will help keep the bark on.
Anyone out there don this? I could use some help!

Harvesting in Winter
If you harvest in spring or early Summer, the bark is easy to break loose, so getting it before the first blush of Spring is a good idea. As for finish, the best I would expect it to offer, might keep insects from laying eggs which develop into larva that eat their way through your work.
