Does anyone have experience with both of these chisels?
I have some Stubai which have performed quite well, but Two Cherries seems to be well respected and a little cheaper, so before buying a couple o fnew ones I’d like to hear about experiences people have had with these two.
Thanks,
Vallance

I use the Two Cherries (Hirsch) chisels and like them alot.
I've never seen the Stubei, where are they offered?
Jeff
Well, in Denmark where I am, but they're Austrian so obviously there too. I believe they're readily available at least in northern Europe. Very similar in appearance to Two Cherries.

I Knew Stubai made tools, but have never seen them in a catalog here in the US.
I know them from their climbing tools, very well made.
Thanks
Jeff
Stubai tools are quite common here in Austria. Professionals usually use Stubai chisels and I'm happy with my set, too.

I use both and like both. The Stubai uses an internal ferrum which was discussed in this forum a few months ago. Two Cherries seems to have alittle more heft to them in your hand. Lee Grindinger frequents this forrum and is a master carver who could give you better information. Hopefully he will see your message.
You can buy either at Diefenbacher tools. The Stubai's are a little less in price there than Two Cherries.

Vallance,
I just picked up a set of six Hirsch chisels from Lee Valley. From all indications at this forum and elsewhere, they are very similar to the Two Cherries. They feel really nice in the hand and hone to a nice edge quite quickly. A fine value that seems to be considerably cheaper than Two Cherries.
Actually, same company and chisel, just a different name on it.
Jeff
I'm not too sure about Two Cherries and Stubai being the same company, one's German the other Austrian, perhaps one owns the other. Anyway, it seems the difference in price is the exact opposite here in Denmark, Two Cherries are cheaper than Stubai - and speaking of Stubai are you guys sure Two Cherries is the same as Hirsch?

Vallance,
Tho Cherries and Hirsch are the same company, just different labels and different handles on an identical steel blade for the chisel. This is a topic of discussion on another forum at the moment.
Stubai are a different company as you point out.

Sorry, I ment Two Cherries and Hirsch are the same, Stubai is a different company.
