I am making a desk for my computer. I have some wood on it that I have stained purple on the front in water based. I plan to epoxy over this stain after taping off the other side of the board. The epoxy will cover the top and sides. I then plan to use an oil based black on the unstained side and satin poly over that. Do you think the oil based will creep up under the epoxy on the sides after it has cured and cause adhesion problems. If needed I have pics to better understand

You shouldn't have any issues. If you are making a desk it is probably at least 3/4" thick so it shouldn't soak through. Make sure each coat is thoroughly dry before moving to the next.
