I’ve been building furniture for almost sixteen years now. I’m been a professional fire fighter for twenty- five years now. We just moved into a new house on two and a fifht acres. I am planning real soon to build a 30X50 shop. All of my tools and machinary are in the garage now and not set up to use. I am going to start building custom ukuleles, furniture is just too big of projects anymore. I have been buying the special tools and some machinary for building guitars-ukuleles. Anyone out there building guitars or even ukuleles that can give me some advice on taking on this new side the woodworking business?

There are a few luthier forums that are frequented by some of the best luthiers around who are extremely generous with their advice and counsel. Don't have the URLs handy, but this page should get you started.

A past workmate of mine (Jason Tagg, Dunedin Hospital, New Zealand, late 90s) runs a Uke band in New York (http://www.sonicuke.com/index1.php) and may be able to put you in touch with the Ukelele playing community in that city!
