   You might consider a different urea-formaldehyde glue.   DAP/Weldwood sells one that call Plastic Resin.   Both components are powdered, and therefore have a longer shelf life than Unibond 800.   An online source is http://www.thehardwarehut.com.  They want about $6/lb for it.

   That looks like a viable solution. Have you (or anyone else) used it for veneering or bent laminations. I am doing a set of veneered curved panels for a sleigh bed so I really don't want to do a whole lot of experimenting on this project. Does it have properties similiar to that of unibond (ridgid glue line, open time etc...)?

   Unibond 800 and plastic powder resin are the same family of urea resin adhesives.  The plastic powder resin is dehydrated.  Urea resin is required for bent laminations due to the rigid glue line - minimal to no creep.

   It turns out McMaster Carr carries that DAP plastic resin glue and they have a ware house 10 mins from my house. I picked some up and it seems to work very similiar to unibond. I have glued up both panels for the bed. One is out of the press and the other will be done in the morning. Thanks for the tip on that glue. Hope to have the bed completed before christmas. Tom

   Hunh! McMaster-Carr has a warehouse where you can will-call?  In all the years that I've been ordering from the big green book, or now over the web, it has never occured to me to go pick something up from them.  <G>

   Yup McMaster Carr, Grainger and MSC all have will call counters at their warehouses and all are within 10-15 mins from me. Helps to work for a company with a corporate account though. I don't think McMaster Carr will let an individual pick up at will call. Since my employer buys from them I was able to pick up at will call but pay with my CC. Tom

   Tom, if you keep it cool  40 to 50 degrees and in the dark it will keep about 18 months. I store mine in the crawlspace of the shop.
