Unilift and PC7518 fixed base router
Hello All,
First I wanted to say hello, I’m a newbie on this forum and have been lurking for awhile. I see many great discussions with a lot of experienced answers behind them and I find that really great. I hope that sometime I am able to help someone in need also. With that said,
I wanted to see if anyone had this combo, Woodpecks unilift and a fixed base PC 7518 router and there solution for mounting the router to the lift? I just purchased the PC7518 and found that no matter how I tried to mount it, the handles are in the way. Not as universal as advertised LOL:) (the unilift that is) Well since this was to be my main workhorse router for my Table, I did the unthinkable. Yep I cut those suckers clean off and ground down the stubs. Works like a charm. ( oops so much for my warranty though) Just wanted to warn those in advance what you might be facing if you are considering this combo. Well thanks for listening

Ya didn't even look at the Milwaukee 5625? Handles are screwed on.
I know DOH! but the PC was on sale! What can I say. LOL!
Don't you take the motor out of the base and put it in the lift(?)
Not on the unilift it uses the base without the base plate and the unilift is predrilled for many different routerbases. The PRL uses a collar that fits the motor.

After researching and getting a lot of opinions, I went with the PRL. That was the predecessor to the unilift. The biggest difference I can see is the four post verses the twin post. Having the 7518 makes it easy. The only decision you need to make is the 16 or 32 twist. I went with the 32 because I wanted the super fine adjustment. There are trade-offs. The 16 twist will raise and lower faster (naturally), but I solved that with a power screwdriver with a hex insert to match. When I made my decision It was between the Jessem and PRL. I ended up going with the PRL because I liked the chain .vs. the rubber belt, and I liked the break that would keep the router from moving over time due to vibration. I have not been disappointed. You will love the 7518, it's a hoss. It has gobbled up what ever I have thrown at it. I bought Norm's router table plans and made a few changes. I made my top 1.5" thick and used a commercial fence. Good luck on the decision and enjoy. You will love the precision of Woodpeckers stuff. Take care.
P.S. if you do decide to get the unilift, here is a cupon code to save $20. I am on their E-mail club and they send out a flyer via email on Friday's with sales on some things. It's not much, but something. The cupon expires tomorrow.

I got the Milwaukee 5625, and saved the cost of the router lift.
Glad you like the Mil they make good stuff that's for sure. I got the PRL so I could get the precision movement. I decided early on that the 7518 would be dedicated to the router table. I have other routers for free hand stuff. Enjoyed the project of building the table and think it will last a long time. Router lifts are not required for sure, but they make fine adjustments easy. Take care.
Thanks for all the input Bones. I already had the Unilift and just bought the 7518. I agree that many of Woodpecks stuff is excellent equipment. I now have the Incra TSLS 52" table saw/router system installed and still trying to get it all setup to spec. So far I am really enjoying it but still some fine tuning to do. I Hope this weekend I may finish the final adjustments and then on to some real work that needs to be completed. Well thanks again.
