I have a 50’s Unisaw and looking for a splitter. Delta’s $35 model is out of stock US wide. I am considering the Merlin splitter but it attaches to a rod that extends out the rear of the saw. Mine didn’t come with the rod. Can this be replaced simply with a threaded rod or is there more to it like additional hardware.
Can you recommend a splitter.
Thanks

Bill,
I have a late model Unisaw that I have outfitted with a Beisemeyer splitter.. Initial installation is easy enough and the unit is easy to remove and replace when necessary (which means it gets used more frequently). It's not a cheap item, but the first time it saves the bacon..
Good luck
The Splitter you have doesn't need to mount to the back of the saw...correct? I'm looking at the Biesemeyer and the Merlin. I Favor the Biesemeyer because it doesn't need to mount to the back of the saw....I think!
Please confirm.
Ron,
The Bies attaches directly behind the saw blade, onto the trunion of the saw.. Nothing mounts behind the table with the Bies..I think the Merlin does mount behind the table of the machine..
Hope this answers your question
Thanks fo rthe reply. I decided to go with the Bies for this reason.
Bill - I purchased the Delta Disappearing Splitter from Woodworker's Warehouse when they were going out of business. In my rush to save money, I neglected to do the proper research. Had I done so, I would have soon learned that this splitter ONLY FITS DELTA RIGHT TILT CABINET SAWS....I own a Grizzly left tilt!!!
Anyway, I've got a brand new splitter that will fit your saw...do you want it? Email me privately if you're interested.
Ron.

Bill,
When I bought a Merlin splitter for my old Uni-Saw, it came with the rod and attaching hardware. It is a nice unit, works well with my saw. You do have to remove material from the bottom of the throat plate to get clearance @ 45 deg. tilt. Enjoy!
