that guy was filling you full of BS! Delta still makes the Uni, and it is as good as ever!!
As I have been told, Delta is moving production of the Unisaw along with the other U.S. made tools offshore. The Limited Editon line is being replaced by the X-5 line which will be built in Asia and have a 5 year warranty. This includes the 14 in bandsaw, contractors saw, 3HP shaper, etc.
I wonder if this is really going to make a difference. How many of the parts in any current products "made in the U.S.", from cars to woodworking machines are foreign made and included in products assembled in the U.S.? A lot!
In order to survive every manufacturer has to cut cost wherever possible. It's not their fault but ours, the consumers who want the lowest price. Hey, I know I'm guilty of being cheap. ;=)
Check out http://www.deltawoodworking.com and any X-5 items are replacing U.S. made stuff.
Do yourself a favor DON"T buy anything from that DUMB SOB anymore cause he Doesn't know his A$$ from a hole in the ground LOL DELTA is still making the UNI in Topelo USA...
