The arbor nut on my LH unisaw keeps backing off. I noticed it when the blade started rubbing the zero clearance insert. The nut is not the blade end of the arbor its on the other end. Has anyone else had this happen? How tight should it be?

That is a 7/8" nut used to hold the arbor in the shell. Make sure the bearing retainer ring is tite. You should use a spanner wrench but if careful you can use a pin punch and lightly tap it with a hammer. Use caution as not to hit the threads. Then tighten the nut to around 20 - 25 ft. lbs. That is about what you can apply with a 6 inch long socket wrench. The older Unisaws used a cuped washer behind that nut and after tightening you would bend an ear over the nut. I think Delta stoped using the lock washer in the mid '90s when they redesigned the arbor bracket and went to a thicker bearing retainer ring. I made a tool to tighten the ring and nut after having the same problem on a couple of saws.
