Hey, I recieved an email from a porn web ring that had the email address that I use on this website. I don’t know if they got my email from this forum but it was an unwelcome suprise.
I don’t think that Knots gives out subscribers emails, but is there anyway to protect my information from being stolen from forums like this?

I got it too. I also got the Nigerian fraud scam.. I turned that one into the FBI.

This is happening to quite a few people. There are threads in CT and BT in regard to this and other nasties.
Whew! I thought I was the only one! It's kinda hard to 'splain that one to the boss

I think you folks should follow Splint's link; somewhere in here she posted a message in referance to what's "going on" here with links to a couple of ongoing discussions over on the cook's forum and in the Tavern the other day. Very interesting reading.
I found out during re registering after The Move, that the reason I couldn't register using my "old" password and username was because I was registered on another Prospero forum and that profile appeared here, I immediatly deleted it.
I will say that I never recieved any spam as a result of membership there, the only spam I recieved was a result of "harvesting" on the old board, total of maybe a half dozen in as many years.....FWIW.

I haven't noticed any new email since registering in the updated forum here.
