Has anyone upgraded a stanley/bailey by installing a LN blade? I’m thinking of buying an A2 blade and fitting it in my old Bailey 3. I’m wondering about the fit? Would the thicker blade match up with my chipbreaker and line up OK?
Any experience? Feedback?
thanks

Yes, I have one. It's a go to plane for me. Works great.
Fit will be fine with one of the "Replacement Blades" as they are sized for Stanleys - thicker than the original, but not so thick as to require filing the mouth or seeking ut a longer screw for the blade assembly.

Check my link from my first reply; I beleive these are all A2 (I don't think there is a choice):
"All of our blades are now cryogenically treated A-2 Tool Steel. (See A Note About Thicknesses, below.)"
danmart,
Save yourself some gas and buy the chip breaker at the same time, they really do work well together.
I bought one (in A2) for a #4C with the new chipbreaker, what a difference! Spend the money on the chipbreaker too, it's worth it.
