Just curious if anyone knows where to get plans for furniture that has fabric on the seats and back. I’d like to try my hand at making a couple of high back reading chairs that have are all cloth except the legs and arms. I’m not sure how to design the skeleton inside, or how to correctly layer the padding underneath. If anyone has any input, it would be appreciated. Thanks. Doc

Hey Doc,
I have a reference book called Upholstery - A complete guide. I wouldn't say it has plans but it does have open views ( fabric cut away) of furniture. By David James, - I recommend it.
Good Luck,

SA - Thanks for the tip. I looked it up on Amazon, and it's a pretty inexpensive book. You are the only person that has replied, and it's the only book that seems close to what I'm looking for. Do the cutaway pictures give enough detail to possibly be able to construct your own skeleton for underneath the fabric? And does it tell how to layer the different pads or foams prior to applying the fabric? Let me know if you get a chance. Thanks again. Doc
I'll answer your question by saying yes but with limitations. In my view this is a worth while book. There aren't many books on the subject so there aren't many choices.
On the job experience is the best teacher, however if your not an upholster and need guidance this book will help. Try to buy it used. Here in N.Y. there is a book store called The Strand. Look on line possibly for a used copy.
Good Luck
