I am looking to upgrade to a 3 hp cabinet saw. Are any made in the US anymore? If so what is the quality of the US saws?

Delta 36-831LA 10-Inch Left Tilt 3 Horsepower Cabinet Saw with 30-Inch Biesemeyer Fence, 1 Cast Iron Extension Wing, Table Board, Leg Set, 230-Volt 1 Phase
Unless they started doing it in the last year, those are not made in the US.------------------------------------

When did Delta move Unisaw production offshore? I have a six year old one which was made in the US.
I've noticed that Delta sells both US made and Chinese made 14" bandsaws with a significant price difference. What are they up to with table saws? Are all, whether contractors saws, hybrids, or cabinet saws now made offshore?
InMyOpinion is correct according to Amazon Tools; the -831LA is still made in the USA. But, the Delta website does not specify Made in the USA. So perhaps Amazon is false advertising??
I am looking at the delta 36-831LA vs Jet 708674PK. Any thoughts? Do you think the jet is a better saw?
The General 350 and 650 are made in Canada, but few to none are still made in the US. The PM66 was made in the states, but isn't that being phased out? The DW746 hybrid was made here too, but I'm not sure that it still is, plus it's not really in the league you're looking at.
I think all of the saws in this category are now made off shore.
I seem to recall, though, that one of the lines made by General is still mfg. in Canada.

Northfield Foundry & Machine still makes its products in Northfield, Minnesota, as far as I know. 12 grand and up for a table saw.
I can't find any mention of it on their web site, but it's my understanding that the Powermatic 66 is still made in the U.S.A. It's a good saw. I've owned one for about 20 years and have no compaints, but if I had the space and the inclination to spend some serious cash, I'd prefer a good slider. There's an interesting discussion going on now -- 34630.1 It's drifting back and forth between sliders and combo machines. Nothing made here however.

Re: Amazon.com
The Tools area is the only one that actually encourages its being telephoned. Perhaps they could run down the true answer.
My Powermatic 66 is made in the USA, but I can't say if they still are. Five years old, bought from Amazon, it is used on a light commercial basis. Rock solid, no troubles.
Best,
John
I think the PM66 is still made in Tennessee and will be until it is phased out. I have one and consider it a very good saw but the new PM2000 has some convenience and safety features that are probably competing pretty heavily with the PM66. The new Delta will be manufacatured in Tennessee. Don't think it is in production yet but it is a nice looker. Where is SawStop made?

The USA has hardly any manufacturing left!
A shame but with world trade maybe not that bad. Except for jobs we in the USA lost because of it. I was a Down-Sized worker after 35/40 years working for them.. Long time anyway.
Be aware that not ALL things made in china are crap! Many are but I think most machine tools are at least well made. I have seen and been in some factories that had very high quality standards. Like ANY company, they manufacture to a specification given to them! As in the USA folks gave to them!
The new Unisaw is to be made in the US. This saw was just shown to the public in August, and is scheduled for sale in early 2009. Here's an article....
