Used Lamello tools selling price: opinions
Hey guys,
I inherited some Lamello stuff from my father. I have absolutely no use for this and would like to sell what I have but haven’t got a clue how reasonable of a price I could ask!
Here’s what I have:
– Lamello Classic biscuit jointer EW 6114 SL (about 20 years old, near-mint low usage, hadn’t been used for 19 uears but powers up successfully)
– Minicol glue application bottle, excellent condition
– Lamello clamping set (spanner-set), 60 cm, brand-new
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Someone with a bit more knowledge can probably give you a bit better info on the biscuit joiner, but Lamello is the festool of the biscuit joiner world. There's various models out there, but atlas tools sells the obviously new version of the classic for around $1000 CAD. I've never used one, but it's my understanding they are the cream of the crop without question for biscuit joiners, but I do think the classic is one of the lesser models.
Look around on ebay and other used tools places to see if you can find some comparables. I would think that someone would probably pay a relatively decent amount.
The glue bottle is nice, but probalby not much value. The clamp system I think sells for a couple hundred new?
The clamp system sells for 345$ CAD new...! That, I found out later yesterday evening.
I do know enough to be aware that Lamello is ultra high-end, and also read that it gives better alignment and consistency than others.
As for a reasonable price for a 20 year-old high-end power tool with low usage...that's what bugging me. With a Dewalt I know I could barely get 60 bucks, but this...
Thing is, not many are sold in Canada, yet alone Quebec. Most online auctions I found for this model were in Europe...
There are some used biscuit joiners out there that fetch a good price. I think the freuds/porter cables, etc are typically a couple hundred on the used market. I'm in Nova Scotia so you'd be looking at the same market price roughly.
I don't think it's unreasonable to slap 3 or 4 hundred on it and see what comes your way. Lamello, used or not, is going to generally be a premium over most other biscuit joiners. I don't know if that's underpriced, but I certainly don't think it's overpriced?
The clamp system is kind of a niche system here in North America. Maybe it's more popular in Europe, but I haven't really ever seen one in use around here. That might be a pick a number you feel comfortable with and throw it out there thing. I could be wrong but I don't think there's a huge market out there for that kind of clamping system.
Thanks for your input, seriously!
Yeah...the clamp system...when looking it up, the only vendors I found were in the UK or scandinavian countries...
I think I'll have to give selling on ebay a try for this, around here people don't even know the brand (or give a sh*t), nor would they be willing to shell out the cash for it (except maybe for some wood shops...?).
I'd recommend putting it on Kijiji or one of the Canadian woodworking forums first. They have a used tools for sale page. The people who are in the know will know what you've got. I'd try that out first for a while. I've sold on eBay but I find the take a bit of a premium from you.
