I live in Central New Jersey, and have occasionally seen some good deals on used power tools. I’ve always liked using older tools. Can anyone point me towards a relatively local source?
Thanks.

Thanks, DJK, I hadn't seen this site before. There was another place in New Jersey, besides machineryvalues.com, that sold used equipment, but I don't remember the name of the company or site. I believe they may have been sold recently, but I don't know if that means they're no longer in business. This place had an old Delta bandsaw that looked exactly like what I'm looking for.
You should post a WTB ad on woodweb and see what pops up. I have been buying and selling machinery and tooling for about 8 years on woodweb. I think it's the best site around.Dave Koury
Check your local classifieds regularly, especially those free "shopper" papers that come out weekly. Also check the pawn shops from time to time.
Thanks, everyone. I spent a little more time perusing the WTB site, and it looks great. And I've taken a renewed interest in the local ads also, el papa. I'll keep looking for that original site I saw; if I find it, I'll post it here.
I live in Michigan but when I would visit my sister in New Jersey (Maplewood) I would stop in to a used machinery dealer in Jersey City (I'm sorry but the name of the place escapes me). They had several warehouses filled with used woodworking equipment. Prices seemed reasonable but shipping back to Michigan would have been expensive so I never purchased anything from them. I haven't been back there in a number of years but I'll bet they're still in business.

There is a place called Cook's or Cooke's or something like that I have never dealt with them, but have heard of several times. I seem to recall that they are east of Trenton. Maybe someone else here has more details.

Thanks. I was able to find a Cook Tool and Machinery on 683 Sicklerville Rd, Sicklerville, NJ. Does this sound like the place you're referring to? They don't seem to have a website. I'll contact them (856-629-4900) to see what they have.
Thanks again.
Over, Try The Tool Chest in Emerson (Bergen county ) If you.re lucky you might buy my old Buffalo drill press. or my old Atlas metal cutting bandsaw or my old 150 lb anvil or my Baldor grinder or my old disc sander .
It,s on Kinderkamack Road Acroos from the train station. Be prepared to spend at least an hour as there's tons of great power tools also hand tools and antigues to die for. The owner Rick buys and sells and repairs any and all power tools.

Thanks, Steinmetz. I found a place called Tool Chest on 45 Emerson Plaza East , PO Box 317, Emerson, NJ 07630, (201) 261-8665. I couldn't find a website for them, either, but I'll check them out.
Thanks again.

Over, you definitly won't be sorry. Plan to visit on a Friday.
Directly across the avenue /plaza,there's a guy who brings his refrigerated big rig from Maine and hooks up to provided electricity.
He sells the best and freshest seafood right out of the back of the truck .
Also ,the crew (Wife and daughters) prepare heat and eat seafood to die for. I recommend the stuffed lobster tails You bake them at home YUM YUM!
When you contact the owner, (Rick) ask to be placed on his mailing list
