Hi all,
So my Dad recently passed away and he was an accomplished woodworker. I have some used machinery of his which includes a table saw, a jointer, a band saw, and several nice wood chisels all in excellent shape which I am possibly interested in selling. I’d love to keep all of it but I just don’t have the space for it in my house and I’m not nearly the woodworker my Dad was. Is there an active marketplace that anyone is aware of or am I pretty much limited to craigslist and ebay. Thanks for the help!

Hey there Ted, Sorry to hear about your father's passing. My advice is to research what is currently out there, the condition there in, the age of equipment, and how well they were taking care of. give the tools and machinery a good cleaning, and remove any rust from cast iron tops. I have had much better luck on Facebook Marketplace than Craig's List. Through the research you will generally know price you will be happy with. Give yourself some negotiation room. If you want $500 for an item list it for $575-$600. It's all about the condition and appearance the equipment is in. Sorry I'm rambling on! Try out Facebook Marketplace and the best of luck to you sir. I hope this reply helped you out.
Hey Buzzard, thanks so much for the response and the condolences. I really appreciate it and this was a big help to me. I never thought of Facebook, that's a great idea and a great way to reach a lot of people. It's a shame that I don't have the room because I'd love to hold on to my dad's stuff and use it as I get more skilled. Thanks so much for the advice!
Interesting issue. I am a woodworker getting along in years. I have thought about making my equipment available to an up and coming craftsman as a pass on gift. Maybe one of the woodworking schools could find a deserving candidate for your dad's tools.
Sawmill creek is an excellent website. Requires a minimal contribution to join. $ 6 I think. Pictures definitely required. You’ll get hundreds of views from serious woodworkers, and they know what stuff should cost
All great suggestions! Thanks so much...
I'm starting a traditional woodworking and carving school in mid-coast Maine (Camden) and am greatly in need of tools and machines.....https://www.MaineCloastWorkshop.com/
I'd be interested depending on where you are located.
