Using a jig with a jig for accurate tapers
For an up coming project, I need to cut some very accurate tapers. To the tune of essentially making a 64 sides polygon. For this I am considering using 2 methods to accomplish this using a back plane. The two methods I want to use are summer up in the following YouTube videos.

This is for the tapering jig for hand planes by Paul Sellers.

This is the method I want to use to make sure I get the exact angle needed. Presented by Joe Pieczynski.
Do you guys think this will work?

Although I'm not sure what a "back plane" is, I'd say let the equipment you have access to be the deciding factor. Paul Sellers for wood, and pretty much any machinist for metal work (though I'd simply use a calculator, including M$ Window's calculator, instead of the tables that Joe Pieczynski used, though he is right; it will require at least a basic knowledge of trig to use effectively). But if you do have access to a mill and a bunch of old end mills laying around your shop, then go for it. But for the most part, I rely on Paul for any precision woodworking advice that has any chance of actually working.
