The largest manufacturer of dyes is Lockwood I believe. Their dyes are available at Woodworker's Supply under the house brand J.E. Moser. They offer a very large number of colors. Jeff Jewitt has put together a good selection under the TransFast name for powdered water mix dyes, and TransTint for concentrates that can be mixed with water or many other media. Jeff's web site is http://www.homesteadfinishing.com.
Thanks for the info,it will at least give me a start Thanks again Rick
Green,
As another poster said, check Jeff Jewitt's website. I started using some of his TransTint dyes a few months ago and have been very pleased with them. Jeff was helpful in guiding me to a specific color of dye for one of my projects.
I've mixed the dye with shellac to use it as a sealer and color coat. I use pre-mixed Zinsser shellac from the home center. I found it better to mix the dye in the denatured alcohol, then pour in the shellac. I diluted the 3lb cut from the can to a 2lb cut for spraying. This process allows you to apply as much or as little color as you want to whatever you're spraying.

I just visited your website. Thanks for sharing. Your are very talented and deserve to very proud.Jim
Jim,
Thank you very much. I'm still learning, just like most of us. Since 'retiring' a couple of years ago, I've had more time to devote to designing and building better pieces and have learned just how little I really know! Some of the procedures I use are things I've learned from Forums such as this.
