In theory I understand Naphtha evaporates very quickly, will adding this solvent to Minwax Polyurethane reduce the drying time (say around two hours vs. six) without changing the properties of this finish? Ratio of finish to Naphtha? The conditions in which I will be applying is between 75 – 87 degrees. I do not know the humidity level, but my guess would be low living in the Calif. Bar Area.
Thanks – MSD

Thinning poly with naphtha will cause the solvent to "flash off" or become tack free faster so you can recoat sooner. Hard to say by what amount. However, the poly still needs the same amount of time to fully cure.
For wipe-on, I mix naphtha and varnish 50/50 and it tends to become tack free with an hour. But this is very dependent on temperature and humidity.
