I posted a couple of weeks ago about getting belts and I thank all of you for your great advice. I ordered them from Powermatic and they don’t seem to be right.
The # is 6077225. and I think the guy said they were made by goodyear.
The problem is this. When I put them on they drop deep into the sheave, (they are 3/8″ wide). and I have to max out the tension on the motor to tension them to about 3/16″-1/4″ deflection with moderate pressure.
There is no way to put more tension on them.
When I do this the box on the side of the motor interferes with the frame of the saw
when I adjust it towards 45 deg. with the blade completely lowered.
I have to completely un-tension the motor to get them on and then completely tension the motor to get the right tension on the belt.
A wider belt wouldn’t drop so deep into the sheave. 3/8″ doesn’t look right on it.
I’ll call them on Mon. to see, but maybe I should just bypass them if they just want to sell me the stock part.

They probably sent you 3VX belts, instead of A or 4L belts. Is it you who has the 65 with a 2-groove sheave on the motor and 3-groove sheave on the arbor? If so, and you told them you needed 2 matched belts, they probably assumed you had the 3VX belts, of which only 2 are used (that's the type on the current crop of 66's). Make sure you explain to them that you need 1/2" wide belts.
Be seeing you...
Yea, I have the 65 with the 2-groove sheave on the motor and a 3-groove sheave on the arbor. I told them that but they might not have registered it. You know what I mean?
I went to Lowes today looking for a special product and the guys on the floor did not hear me at all.
I have a bath/shower that has a height of 59 1/2" because the fiberglass enclosure is on top as well. I would tell them 59 1/2" and then they would go to the doors they had and go through all the other heights they had. Then they would stand there until I said thank you. Then they would walk away. I did say they might be a special order.
Anyway, we all need to listen to what people say.
Hey David, I haven't been following your situation, and this has probably been discussed already, but rather then going to a Lowes, or a Powermatic dealer, you could save some bucks by going to an auto parts store with your old belts or part #'s,and tell them what you need. In my humble opinion, NAPA counter guys usually are much more mechanically inclined then Lowes, or whatever.
Please feel free to completly ignore this if its not relevant.
The napa guys would probably be able to get them if I had the #.
I don't have the # and the guy at Powermatic wasn't paying attention.
I'll call them Mon. and make sure I get the right ones.
Unless someone can give me a number I have to go to the manufacture.
